Visit from the University of Helsinki

The new Rector of the University of Helsinki, Professor Jari Niemelä, and the new Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, Professor Hanna Snellman, visited the University of Edinburgh on 4 October to discuss closer collaboration between the two institutions.

This follows an outward visit by the University to Helsinki in May 2017 which sought to identify those areas where it was felt that collaborative activity could enable both institutions to become world-leading.

Cooperation with the Centre

Professor Jaboury Ghazoul submitted an outline plan for building collaborations with University of Helsinki in the field of forest science as a basis for discussion during the meeting, which was attended by Professor Mat Williams, Professor John Grace, and Dr Caroline Nichol.

We are pleased to report that the outcome was the allocation of £50k for pump-priming work to build the collaboration between the Centre and the University of Helsinki.
